Baby Boomers

Baby boomers (also known as boomers) are the demographic cohort following the Silent Generation and preceding Generation X. The Baby Boom generation is most often defined as those individuals born between 1946 and 1964.

Why are they called baby boomers?

Baby boomers are a designated group of people who were born between 1946 and 1964. They are labeled as ‘baby boomers’ because during this period of time, there was a statistically significant increase in the number of births that occurred.

What is the difference between Millennials and Baby Boomers?

Baby Boomers are very loyal to their company, while Millennials are loyal to what they’re working on. A baby boomer is very likely to stay with one company for their entire career or for a majority of their work life; millennials may bounce around from one place to another to find work.

What percentage of baby boomers are still alive?

They peaked at 78.8 million in 1999 and have remained the largest living adult generation. There were an estimated 74.1 million Boomers in 2016. By midcentury, the Boomer population is projected to dwindle to 16.6 million.

What are the characteristics of the Baby Boomer generation?
