What is the purpose of focus groups?
Focus group research is used to develop or improve products or services. The main purpose is to provide data to enhance, change or create a product or service targeted at a key customer group. The above example targeted improving the experience of parents of sick children.
What is focus group in psychology?
A focus group is a form of qualitative research in which a group of people are asked about their attitude towards a product, concept, advertisement, idea, or packaging.
How many questions should a focus group have?
A 90-minute focus group with 10-12 participants shouldn’t have more than five or six principal questions. Each question needs to be fully discussed, and will likely involve drilling down on particular ideas and comments. Plan on spending about 10 minutes on each topic. Start with open-ended questions.
Are focus groups effective?
Participants in the focus group interview are brought together because they possess certain characteristics related to the subject under study. While using focus groups can be an effective qualitative research method, these types of interviews are not conducive for all types of research generation. Read the full article for more details.
