Featured Snippet

Over the years, Google has been adding more and more information to the search results, aside from the Adwords and organic search results, in order to enhance the search experience. The Featured Snippets are a format which is supposed to provide users with a concise, direct answer to their questions – right there on the search results page, without the users having to click through to a specific result.

How do Google snippets work?

Featured snippets are selected search results that are featured on top of Google’s organic results below the ads in a box. Featured snippets aim at answering the user’s question right away (hence their other well-known name, “answer boxes”). Being featured means getting additional brand exposure in search results.

Why are featured snippets important?

Today’s searchers are dominated by featured snippets It’s this option that gets the most clicks and pageviews. It’s thus naturally desirable to have featured snippets in as much search queries as possible, as it necessarily directs customers towards your page and information rather than that of your competitors.

Which different kinds of Featured Snippets are there?
