R Analytics (or R programming language) is a free, open-source software used for heavy statistical computing. The language is built specifically for and used widely by, statistical analysis and data mining. More specifically, it’s used to not just analyze data, but create software and applications that can reliably perform statistical analysis.

What is R for statistical analysis?

R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. R provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering, …) and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible.

Is Python better than R?

R is mainly used for statistical analysis while Python provides a more general approach to data science. R and Python are state of the art in terms of programming language oriented towards data science. Learning both of them is, of course, the ideal solution. Python is a general-purpose language with a readable syntax.

Which is better for data analysis: R or Python?
